“What we put out into the world and what people experience determines whether they want to show up to our events. Whether they will show up again. And what they will say about the experience to other people and whether they want to bring other people with them.”
In the latest episode of our Insights Interview Series, our Chief Engagement Officer, Georgie Stayches caught up with Andrew O’Loughlin to talk all things Experience Design. An experienced event professional with over twenty years’ experience in the event industry, Andrew now mentors, facilitates and coaches in the area of Experience Design. Experience design looks at how to design, or re-design, events to ensure and implement the most effective and engaging experience for guests, spectators, attendees etc. As Andrew states, “The experience we provide to people is ultimately what matters the most.” However this can often get lost in the logistical planning of events. In this episode, Georgie talks to Andrew about what Experience Design is, the power of events, how events can inspire and influence people’s behaviours, why collaboration is so important and where Andrew draws his inspiration and research from.
