“What we put out into the world and what people experience determines whether they want to show up to our events. Whether they will show up again. And what they will say about the experience to other people and whether they want to bring other people with them.”
In the latest episode of our Insights Interview Series, our Chief Engagement Officer, Georgie Stayches caught up with Andrew O’Loughlin to talk all things Experience Design. An experienced event professional with over twenty years’ experience in the event industry, Andrew now mentors, facilitates and coaches in the area of Experience Design. Experience design looks at how to design, or re-design, events to ensure and implement the most effective and engaging experience for guests, spectators, attendees etc. As Andrew states, “The experience we provide to people is ultimately what matters the most.” However this can often get lost in the logistical planning of events. In this episode, Georgie talks to Andrew about what Experience Design is, the power of events, how events can inspire and influence people’s behaviours, why collaboration is so important and where Andrew draws his inspiration and research from. Live events are coming back. In fact, in some areas they are already back! In our latest Insights Interview Series, we catch up with Caroline Duveau-Clayton, Head of Conference & Events at Village Roadshow Theme Parks to hear about their journey back to live events. Returning with a conference for 15 delegates in June, their event bookings have continued to increase and include formals, dinners, weddings and more. We caught up with her to chat about event muscle memory, how they are keeping on top of regulations, what it was like running that first event, how they re-group after each event and what the new questions are that they need to consider in the planning. Tune in to find out the new opportunities the new environment is creating, what has surprised her along the way and what we all have to look forward to as our live events return. We can't wait! While a lot of focus has been moving events to online, it has also meant moving training and professional development online too.
How does delivering a training program, seminar or conference in person to differ to delivering through a lens? LCSA is a member organisation made up of approximately 200 Community and Neighbourhood Centres spread around NSW - all locally run, locally led community organisations. “(A single) word can evoke, persuade, sell, grow, heal, empower, inspire but it can also destroy, hurt, savage, undermine….it is such a fragile thing.”
We caught up with Robyn Moore, who has worked with, and had a passion for, words for over 48 years in her role as an educator, voice over artist (Blinky Bill, How Green Was My Cactus, Spray and Wipe) and speaker. As events moved online in March due to COVID-19, member organisations like the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FACCI) needed to move quickly.

It’s a change of pace for this episode of Insights Interview Series as we chat to Fran Henke, polio survivor, about her experiences through an epidemic. “It’s really hard not to think about yourself at the moment and your business….but stop and be mindful of your customers needs. What are your customers doing right now? What do they need?”
As an organisation committed to delivering in person programs, Lord Somers Camp and Power House knew in early March that things needed to change.
The heart of every community, the local club (whether it be a sporting or service club), has been forced to adapt how they engage during COVID-19.
